This Saturday, December 31, there will be special practice at Aikido dojos across the globe in the tradition of misogi. Misogi practice reflects a custom of ritual purification training and will allow Aikido students to train intensely and renew our commitment to Aikido, to our instructors, and to our dojo community. If you have never participated, it is a memorable experience and a great way to transition between calendar years. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us at Valley Aikido for this annual tradition.
The dojo will need to be cleaned prior to this event. Doors at Valley Aikido will open at 5pm on Saturday and we will clean for 1 hour. We will be done by 6 and then view the fireworks at 615 from the bridge over Main Street. The cleaning is as important as our on-the-mat practice, so I look forward to seeing everyone at 5.
The misogi training will be followed by a small potluck and time to socialize with our friends and families.
Thank you for your dedication to Valley Aikido and I am grateful to have this community to practice with. See you at 5! If you have any questions, please ask a senior student.
